Hey hey cheesites, welcome to 2003! Looks like I'm a day too late, I was in the country during new years eve, so I was severely short on time when I finally got back. But hey, I'm right on time in the northern hemisphere. Woohoo! Go timezones. Yeah, I know there's no backgrounds, it would have upped the filesize even more than the ricockulous levels it's already at. Sorry to all the dialup readers, but I tried to keep it as small as I could. Drama is often thwarted by bandwidth. Does anyone know why photoshop can't compress pngs smaller than gifs? Fenris tells me that he can make the comics a smaller filesize, but even tweaking the settings in photoshop won't give me smaller pngs. He's using paintshop pro or something, I believe. Anyhoo, this marks the first bigger than cheeses for 2003. Hopefully we'll get off to a good start and an even better 2004. I mean, just look how far we've come in one year. Makes you think, huh. Three different art styles, two different drawing programs (and the whole moving from hand drawn to computer drawn thing), and god knows how many logo changes. And thanks to Alex, we finally got the brand spanking new php system running. And before I forget, mad mad props to Bandwich for having the first ever btc guest appearance. Maybe there was one before them, but I'm pretty sure that they're the first. Kudos to you shky and dub. Kudos indeed. Drawing Thanatos in a quasi anime/dbz style was pretty easy, but doing Duke the same way just made him look 10. Sooo anime duke pretty much looks the same like regular duke. But he's got anime-ish hair. And a shirt instead of a singlet. There ya go. The second last panel is one of the very rare moments in my comic making career in where I'm happy the way it turned out. While my inner critic can still spot a few dozen mistakes with it, overall I'm quite happy how that scene made the jump from my mind into the comic without fouling up at my uncoordinated hands. It was going to say "WHAT?! NOOOOO" originally, but I think it looks better with just the countdown and the expression on their faces. And in case you don't get it, it says happy new ear because the y rocket(s) hit them. Have you ever drawn a rocket launcher? It's hard. It looks like a big pipe with a handle, damnit! And yes, in panel 6 they're supposed to be flying in the air. It doesn't come across too well on top of a plain white background. Anyway, that's enough from me. Hope you had a blast over the last year with us, and maybe you'll have a better time by the time 2004 rolls round. Why did I say us? I'm the only one making the damn comics. Ah shit I'm talking to myself again. And typing it too. That's not a good sign. Oh, I've updated the scrap art picture over in the Random Art section. Whenever I make any changes to my scrap art file, I'll update the one you all can see, so you can get a glimpse at what I'm doing. As you can see I've been working on anime and anime eyes a lot. And trying my hand at emulating some of Chris's sexcellent work. It should be easy enough to spot which ones are his. Blargh. It's 4am and I think I've done my comic updating type duty for one day. You know the drill, Vote for me at rocketbox, then at twc, and finally be good cheesites and visit the forum regularly. Bizarre Linkage
